FORTUNE Journalists Win Four New York Press Awards and Two EFJ Awards

FORTUNE is the recipient of FOUR New York Press Awards this year:

In the Business Reporting category, Claire Zillman took the top magazine honors for her sharply reported feature story on the still-unbroken glass ceiling at Wall Street’s banking giants, “The Last Boy’s Club.”

In the Consumer Reporting category, Jake Meth was honored for his investigation into the poisoning of children by detergent pods that look dangerously like candy, “The Real Tide Pod Challenge.”

In the Political Coverage category, Erika Fry and KHN’s Fred Schulte have, once again, received laurels for their groundbreaking (and devastating) report on the lethal failure of electronic health records, “Death By a Thousand Clicks.”

And in the Feature Sports category, Mary Pilon has won top honors for her powerful story, “How Much Is A Little Girl Worth?,” which bared the pain and trauma that came from attempts to find a financial settlement to a series of horrifying and impossible-to-settle crimes.

In addition, both Erika Fry and Geoff Colvin earned two more honors last week, winning Excellence in Financial Journalism awards, which have been given annually by the New York State Society of CPAs for the past three decades.

Erika and Fred, again, took the prize in the Public Service category for “Death By a Thousand Clicks.”

And Geoff won in the General Reporting category for his seminal feature on the long unraveling of Sears, “Seven Decades of Self-Destruction.” Kudos also go to Phil Wahba for his essential and well-informed reporting for this story—and, once again, to their brilliant editor, Matt Heimer.

It’s worth noting that only 12 EFJ awards were given this year and Fortune won two of them.

Congratulations to our colleagues on their extraordinary work—and please share these stories widely. They deserve to be read again and again.
